That's the 'incentive' money to make sure that you actually promise to show up. If a team says 'we'll be there' and doesn't pre-pay, and they're a no-show, then they've stolen a slot from a team that wanted it.
Exactly.
To ask 4 of 8 people to come up with a prepay by January 1st, isn't asking a great deal....we all know this. The reason I have allowed an "at the door" entry is due to people A) not having credit cards B) short in the next month and half and C) Just like to pay at the door.
The costs of the pre-pay event is in line with any other OP of the past. The door-pay is also consistent with the past. The pre-pay is more about teams locking in a spot, so we don't have a CQC6 situation where two teams dropped the night before screwing over two other teams that would have participated, but couldn't make the adjustment the night before.
It is unfair to the people who want to play for someone to jack the spot and not go....so, we're trying to limit that possibility by prepay.
How is there a 'required prepayment' if the option to pay at the door is there? What if most of a team wants to pay at the door, and they do not have much of a prepayment (if anything at all)?
If a team doesn't have a prepayment and wants to be there, they will have to take their chances in the case that not all team slots have been filled. If on Jan 20th, and there are slots available (which is pretty unlikely with so many teams wanting to go) I'll have already stayed in contact with the team leaders of that pool of players and find out if they want to go. At that point, they can pay at the door and enter the event.
There is a way to do it, I've just never seen it done.
