So… Um… it’s a magazine… magazine… that straps to your MOLLE vest.

When I first saw it I dismissed it as another piece of Gucci gear for the shooting range ninjas and gun store commandos. THEN I got to try one out.

Lets discuss the movement that it takes to load a magazine from a standard MOLLE pouch on your vest into your M4.

-Drop mag out of your rifle
-Open the flap on your pouch
-Grab your magpul and yank the mag free
-Re-orient the mag and jam it into your magwell

With the FAST your movements are:

-Drop mag out of your rifle
-Grab the magazine and pull it out of the FAST
-Jam into magwell

The magazine comes clear of the FAST already oriented ready to go into your rifle. Depending on whether you’ve already pulled the dust cover off the unit, all it takes to get a fresh magazine out is grab and tug.

With traditional pouches have you ever done a quick frisk of your vest to figure out which pouches still have mags in them? The FAST always dispenses mags from the same place.

Alright, this all sounds really really sweet, what’s the catch?
-It is expensive
-It is bulky. It takes up the amount of MOLLE real estate on your vest as 3 traditional pouches and is thick
-For the amount of space, it only holds 3 mags
-If you get it *really* muddy, it can jam. I do mean *really* muddy.

I could tell you about how great it is until the e-cows come home, or I could show you exactly how it works with a video.

What airsoft mags does it work with?
Nearly Everything. All the airsoft mags I tried it with worked except the 40rd style hugeass Echo1 mag.
Airsoft mags are a tiny bit shorter than real steel mags, so theres a bit of wobble room in the FAST. This didn’t cause a problem in my testing.

What real steel mags work with it?
All of the 30 round aluminum mags I tried worked.
What DIDN’T work were the Canadian Thermold mags and the Magpul P-Mags

The bottom line:
The FAST system makes your reloads go really quickly and very smoothly. But its big and can't carry that many mags. In game, it can be pretty damn cool to reload this quickly.
