|
|
Calendar Event: June 5, 2009 - June 8, 2009
WHO: MCHA
WHAT: BRS
WHEN: JUNE 5-8, 2009
WHERE: THE RANCH
HOW MUCH: 350 USD
School Summary:
Expect four days of pure hell coupled with the most fun you can have with your clothes on. At BRS, you’ll be taught the skills necessary and feel what it’s like to be ready and trained as a basic reconnaissance man in the United States Marine Corps, circa 1969.
-ONLY 20 SLOTS AVAILABLE-
(This is to ensure a good instructor to student ratio)
Attention:
Basic Reconnaissance School is not an airsoft event. BRS is an active immersion into an historically accurate 1960's Marine Corps School. Candidates will be trained and tested over the course of 4-days.
Instructors are limited to Marines and Naval Service personnel who have earned the CAR. Veteran Marines are invited to apply for instructor billets.
The BRS Course Overview is not to be published online. The course is geared toward training would-be Marine reenactors in the basic doctrine and tactics of a Bn Recon element.
The Marine Corps Historical Association is organized to promote the history of the Marine Corps, and Navy Corpsman, to youth. The MCHA educates though living history, facilitates events, visits schools, and participates in public displays; and provides the public with an accessible connection to the past.
For more information about BRS or the MCHA, please email s3@mycorps.us with your physical mailing address. An application packet, gear list, and physical fitness requirements will be mailed to you. Applications will be reviewed before any funds are requested.
S/F
Respectfully,
CWO4 Roger Muller, MCHA s3@mycorps.us
Acting Director
(Sgt, USMC 86-92)
Basic Reconnaissance School FAQ
What’s this about?
The Marine Corps Historical Association is a not for profit organization dedicated to preserving the living history of our Marines and attached Naval personnel by promoting the accurate portrayal of Marines and knowledge of our doctrine, history, traditions and customs. Only former and active duty Marine Corps and Naval personnel are permitted to hold course instructor billets.
What do I need to bring?
Each candidate will arrive at Camp Basilone equipped as a Marine infantryman, circa 1968, with OD “Type 3” Jungle Fatigues, 782 gear, and an M16A1 (airsoft) service rifle.
Can I wear/bring my A2/cammmies/tac vest/M4/XM177/AK?
NO. All candidates will adhere to strict historical guidelines while at Camp Basilone.

NO. It is highly recommended that each candidate bring food and water for their days at Camp Basilone. However, if 8-weeks notice is given, period C-Rations will be prepared for you at an additional charge.
Are there lunch/meal breaks?
NO. From the moment you arrive at Camp Basilone you are in an immersed environment.
Where will I sleep?
Period correct shelter-halfs are prepared for all candidates.

Hope you are ready for this, it sounds easy but there is a small rest period between events but you have to complete them all in order. |

Wow, sounds awsome, too bad noone has all the gear and $350 to enter. I guess by June that could be a possibility.
If anyone is looking to put the kit together, I would suggest this.

Ryan,
That would be a great AEG for Nam reenacting except that they simply threw on a triangular front grip on a A3 rifle.
Both the TM and CA have the correct A1 upper reciever.
(Iam sorry if I sound like a snobby reenactor.......... ) _________________

If anyone needs to borrow gear, and want to do this, pm me. I am too busy, and have some paid training in this field, but hey, I'm willing to loan out a ruck sack and army issue gear. _________________
