PDX CAGE is closed until further notice.
We have received notice from the Fire Marshall's department that we can no longer operate as a business. The only option at this point is for people to come to the facilities to shop at the Airsoft Outlet NW store. CAGE as an indoor arena, until further notice, is shut down.
All upcoming events this weekend (Gunsmithing course, Swap Meet, Team Trainings) are unfortunately going to have to be put on hold.
Details:
For Halloween we had a zombie event. This had a smoke machine, which caused the fire alarm to go off. Since then, they've been keeping their eye on us, and it's getting personal to them, quite frankly. We're in talks with them, and with the zoning people to try and get this place back up and running, but until then we aren't open. We can't legally be open. If we want to fight the system, we have to follow the rules during the process.
Three months ago, we passed a fire marshall's inspection. They are trying to rezone us as a "gathering place" business, instead of commercial. It's crap if you ask me, but this is what's happening.
I feel really bad to do this to everyone at the last minute, and have it happen under my watch. Hopefully this whole thing blows over as soon as we explain that we've been OK'd for use by the Fire Marshalls just three months ago, but until we get through the paperwork, we can't operate, lest we get further trouble upon us.
Hopefully today, but most likely no later than Tuesday, we'll have our reply from the zoning people and see if we can't fix this whole thing. But until then, hold tight and hold in limbo.
We are working on it.

I'm curious to see how the zoning & fire code laws will affect the plan to make a mini town in the CAGE. Good luck getting things straightened out. _________________ "It's nothing to worry about. It's just a fire on my head." |

You might want to just let them handle it on their own until they request help. The Fire Marshall can do what ever they like for the most part and be complete dicks about it. Pissing them off won't help. |

Fire codes are just as much about the safety of the everyday users of an establishment, as they are for the firefighters who would have to go in there an pull your ass out if it came down to it. Don't be so quick to write it off as anything less.
I've never once visited the Cage, but from hearing stories about it, I figured this day might come. |
