Norwedemarkish Camo

Postby Sahronax » Wed Jan 05, 2011 3:54 pm

So I discovered fairly recently that the real-steel of the weapon I carry, the HK416, is used by the Norwegian army as their main battle rifle (the only nation in the world, as far as I know, that uses it as such, and not just for special operations teams). I am now interested in building a Scandinavian-based loadout. My question, then: Does anyone know where I might be able to purchase a fairly modern (in use post-2005 is preferred) Danish, Swedish, or preferably Norwegian camouflage uniform? Finnish or Icelandic would work as well, although in my eyes less well than one of the other three. I'm not currently too worried about exactly how accurate this loadout is, more that I just get the correct geographic area down first.
Right now the best thing I can think of as a substitute would be something like CADPAT to represent some of the Danish, Danish, or Finnish uniforms. This is not my favored approach, but as I said it's the best option I can think of right now. It would be much better to have the real thing, help, anyone?

EDIT: For those who couldn't otherwise figure it out, the title of this thread is a butchered conglomeration of "Norway," "Sweden", and "Denmark." :)

I was actually trying to do an impression of just a standard line trooper, if I were to do a special forces soldier I probably would have chosen German.

Although Aussies could be interesting, more info...?

Oh my...
That's quite a bit more than I had anticipated. Could be doable, though not any time soon; too many other things to pay for.

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly does 'SOTG' stand for? I'm not finding it anywhere in context with Australia

you can usually find the danish M84 uniforms online, but they typically arent cheap. they are extremely well made though, i love mine and almost always wear them when the weather is bad. for M84 you are probably going to be looking at $200 or more for a set of authentic ones. never have seen repros, but i havent looked lately.

I found some M/84 on Ebay made in Britain, price isn't too bad but it doesn't list the shipping; given that it's international I'm not expecting it to be pleasant.
I also found some Swedish M/90 pants on Ebay as well, but there is no sign of a shirt so I'm thinking those are pretty much out.

As for the Aussie loadout goes, I don't quite understand all the acronyms you're throwing at me >.< Care to explain?

You can get a full set of surplus Danish M84 for under $75 if you look around.

$40 for Danish M84 top:

Also, Mil-Tec makes repro of all of this stuff for fairly cheap. Their M90 is horrible, but their M98 (Norwegian) is pretty good. I have a pair of pants in that pattern. If you're large regular, I could sell them to you for $10. Good condition.

I was lucky to find a set of Finnish M/05 once, but it still cost me about $125 after shipping.

With any European camouflage, you'll pay a lot more but get a bit more quality.

See, this did not show up very apparently through Google; very helpful, thank you.

Also, Nasty, I don't suppose you could list those items in order of importance, if you haven't done so already? It would be nice to know what to set my proverbial sights on first if I am to go ahead with this Aussie loadout.

I haven't seen SOTG using 416s, just lots of M4s. They are listed as "testing" so you COULD use one, but M4s would be more common.

The main thing you need is a CB/tan/MC PC thats accurate and MC duds. The rest you can get in time.

As for getting Norwegian cammies, its quite hard to get real ones as Norway put the kibash on selling surplus uniforms.

There are a few places I have found with Norwegian 3 color desert. It is similar to ours but the patterns are bigger. Let me see if I can dig the sits back up.

I did learn that Norway has intentionally made their uniforms generally unavailable to the public, which is why I opened it up to other Scandinavian uniforms as well.

I did wonder about this, but I suppose if anybody at all uses it then I could get away with it.

Didn't you say you have Vegetata cammies? Italian special forces use the 416 as well.

This is true, but Italian special forces in particular have no real appeal to me. Aussies I could do; but as I mentioned above, I wasn't originally planning to do an impression of a special forces soldier, but just a standard line trooper, which is why I originally chose Norwegian.

I'm Norwegian and have friends in the Army there, like I said give me a week or so to see what I can find.
